I just went to the website to see if they're in my area, since I was pretty sure they weren't. The message was "sorry, we don't offer any service in your area. So, I'd bet they just won't allow you to sign up, and if they did, it'd be a bad idea since you'd probably never have service.
Why would you want to do that? You're posting in this thread, so I'm guessing you're considering an alltel flash, maybe before you buy the phone? Cause you can get the moto ui with the alltel flash on a verizon phone, get everything up and running, and you'll get the verizon service with the moto ui perks I'd say that's the best bet.
I really didn't want the red bar ugliness and I honestly considered switching carriers because I wanted a razr but I didn't want it to look like verizons, but I stayed because I heard so much bad stuff about all other carriers reception, and that's the main part of having a cell phone.
I wouldn't want to be happy witht he way my cell phone looks, but not be able to connect half the time, or get dropped calls, or just have terrible reception so no one can hear me.
There's nothing you can do about getting better reception when going with another company, but there's eomthing you can do about the look of the ui of your phone once you have a company with good reception.

Alltell doesnt sell their service in my area, but i know people with alltell phones that work here where i live and they arent charged for roaming. Thats why im trying to find out how to activate an alltell phone on prepaid service called "U" , so i can experience as many carriers as possible.

Alltel's and Verizon's boards have reached an agreement but your right that the govt hasn't approved it yet. Would be a big surprise if they didn't though.
News of their agreement has been all over the news, Google it and I'm sure you can find it. Whats more my Aunt works for Alltel and she said once the deal was agreed on about half her department just quit their jobs now granted they werent the worlds greatest jobs making payment collection calls because they realized that a bunch of them would be out of work in about a year anyway now.
But I guess I'm just frustrated that Alltel can't seem to help me out with this. I really don't think I'm asking too much and their refusal help me out for these next few months has me seriously doubting that I will renew my contract with them.

I've used several different Motos and a few different Palm Treos. I've never gotten charged for roaming ever. I flash all my Motos with Alltel firmware before I activate them though.
As long as the phone has Alltel firmware and an Alltel PRL, how in the world do you figure they could charge you for roaming? My current phone is a Amp'd Mobile v3m flashed to Alltel firmware. I guess I'm just one of the lucky thousands that do this all the time.
