Actually the version of Windows you choose is irrelevant other than making sure you correctly select 64 or 32 bit.
You are right I just verified and confirmed. I got some errors earlier and I thought that is a result of choosing Windows 7 as the version. It seem to be working fine with VirtualBox irrespective of the version we choose during installation.
I got a different result with VMWare Workstation. Seems that to me the first question that I have not seen ask? What version are you trying to install with..
