MP3 music files have some hidden data stored within them called 'ID3 tags' or 'metatags' these tags contain the information that your MP3 player or the PS3 will use to display information about the track. A 'Tag' can also store an Album cover image. How do I 'Tag' my tracks? There are lots and lots of Tagging apps around on the Web; WMP and iTunes will even Tag your tracks for you but the results can be a little unpredictable.
A couple of the more popular tagging apps are MP3Tag or Jtagger. MP3tag is a more automated solution whereas Jtagger is a little more manual but does offer a little more control. Highlight all the songs by Clicking on the first track, hold the Shift Key and click the last track.
Click 'Tag Sources' and select Amazon. Check the album name to search for is correct. In the search results box select the result that is the most appropriate. Click 'OK'. The next window will show you track data and album artwork that will be applied to your album. If it all looks good make sure 'Save image to tag' is ticked and click 'OK' to save the data or click 'Cancel' and start from Step 2 to find another option. The application will write the data, and after a short time will complete.
You should now see the album artwork and track data when browsing the Music menu Notes: You can also add artwork by copying your music to your Playstation 3 hard drive, and then copying the image and then adding it to the album by selecting the track and selecting 'Information', then highlighting the album icon and pressing 'X' to edit and then selecting the image.
Though that seems a bit more tedious than the method above! Please refer to online documentation or the in-built documentation for help around this functionality.
Unfortunately at the moment Sony haven't seen fit to include Streamed photo use into the Gallery app on the PS3. Thanks alot mate this is very usefull. I did what I could to set up my win 7 to stream to my ps3. I read a couple of threads. I finally saw a few photos from the computer but i have a feeling it is not from streaming. I think the COPY worked becuase some of the photos are visible and some are corrupted and no matter what I do the the photos on the computer and even if I close WMP, the photos on the ps3 remain as they were, some visible and some corupted.
So I can't get clear on the streaming bit. I have win7 home premium on this laptop. The posts I have read seem to have various versions of things that don't match what I've seen on my machine. PS3MS detects my ps3 but when i go to to play any file its just a black screen but the same files play fine of a usb stick, does this mean my PC is crap?

I wont go into the WMP12 side of things as there is already alot of info around about that already, but not much at all in regards to AVG's firewall. Setup everything as you would in the other guides around, and dont worry about AVG firewall just yet. When you get to the point where you have to disable AVG's firewall to get streaming to work, this is where you will need this info.
Ok, now open up AVG and double click on the firewall. You will see the basic firewall page. Now just to be sure, disable the firewall and try streaming to the PS3 To make sure its AVG's firewall causing you problems.
Its probably worth stating that is a good idea to have your PS3 setup with DMZ in your router too, as you wont have any issues with having to open ports for your PS3 etc. If you manage to get streaming going with the AVG firewall disabled thats good. Also if streaming works but you get the 'No titles available' etc, you need to point WMP12's library to your files location on your PC manually.
This is where you want to be. Now in the left panel open up the relevant profile, for me this is 'Small home or office network'. Now open up 'Applications'. Now the first thing to do here is add WMP12 networking to the exceptions rule. Now on the right you will see 'Add', click this.
Now where it says 'Path' click the tab to browse to the location of wmpnetwk. Which normally will be Go ahead and make the description 'PS3 Streaming'. The 'Application Action' should be set as 'Allow for all'. Ok so now apply this new setting. Now once you have done this, look in the left panel again and go to 'Generic Host Process'.
Again here click 'Add'. Now the only things i changed here were 'Local ports', 'Remote ports', and 'Remote Addresses'. This is how you want it Allow for all. Also down the bottom change the 'Rule detail name' to 'PS3 streaming'. Now click 'Ok'. Now the PS3 rule will be at the bottom of the list. Highlight it and click 'Move Up' until the PS3 rule is at the top. Make sure you click 'Apply' in the bottom right corner! Now you should be good to go! If you still have the AVG firewall turned off, leave it turned off for now.
Check to see if the PS3 will pick up your PC. Do the search for 'Media servers'. Once found, play something to make sure its streaming correctly still, if so you havent stuffed up! Now go back to AVG's main page and double click on the Firewall. Set the firewall to 'Enable', and continue to play something on the PS3.
You can even start a video or something on the PS3 first and then enable the AVG firewall just to make sure it doesnt stop it directly as you enable the firewall. Which it shouldnt. Now shutdown and reboot both devices PC and PS3. This is all you should need to do!! I hope i havent forgot any crucial infomation? If you cannot get it to work, let me know, and ill see if i can work out whats going wrong.
Hope it helps some people, like myself, who couldnt find the detailed info regard AVG's firewall and the PS3. Added an item and linked to this specific thread in the main post. I would like to add some information related to playback of high definition audio.
I'm talking about 6 channels 5. It's feature rich, freely available, loseless compressed about , and found in online audio stores. The only drawback is PS3 does not support it. The drawback is bandwidth. You need to push down the wire about 15 Mbps.
