Moose pipe armor installation

Having just bought a new Gnarly pipe for my 01 YZ, I thought I'd buy it a little protection as I'm the type who tends to fall a lot. I bought the Moose Racing , 'moose pipe armor' guard online. It arrived today and to my suprise it looks like it is better protection for a baseball bat, cause it is not shaped in any way like the compound curves on my expansion chamber!

The photo online showed the guard after it was customized for the pipe, not straight like they sell it! Thanks in advance, Steve. I'd sent it back. Mine was a [email protected] to bend and then once I hit a big log it just took the force and made the pipe fold like a taco up towards the fender.

IMO, there's no such thing as a pipe guard unless you buy a hyde racing version. Thanks for the input. I love a challange! I think I'm going to start bending it up tonight. I'm "going to get Midieval on it!

I'll take pictures if it seems to be working. I had one of those guards on my old KDX, they are tough to bend but using a crescent wrench, vise grips, a rubber mallet and some major sweat equity I got the job done and it was worth it for the protection and piece of mind. I bent it by hand first, then mounted it up and commenced to beat the crap out of it with a rubber mallet.

It looks pretty good now. I think it may help preserve the pipe a bit, but in the end the pipe will still end up biting the dust:bonk:. Right side:. I must say you did a nice job on it. I seen the the picture of it and thought "holy Hell! Hey, reviving this old thread. Just to say that I almost did not buy this moose armour guard because of people saying how difficult install was.

Using channel locks, linesman pliers, impact driver, propane torch. Install took about 15mins. I have struggled more with grips in the past. List Grid. Buy Now.
